Located in Mariakani, northwest of Mombasa, Masjid & Markaz Jabbar is a purpose-built mosque and school serving as the heart of its community.

The land was generously donated by a widow whose only wish was for a mosque to be built. Established in 2006 and funded by the family of our Chairman at Haq Water for Life, it was the only mosque within a five-kilometre radius.

Today, it is more than a place of worship. It provides education to underprivileged children, creates local employment, and supports a growing population as more families settle in the area.

What began as one woman’s sincere act of charity has become a lasting source of faith, opportunity and unity for generations.

Transforming Lives Through Education and Qur’an

Beyond serving as a place of worship, the mosque is a centre of learning and transformation.

It provides full boarding, accommodation and meals for 50 Hifz students, with an additional 20+ day students dedicated to memorising the Holy Qur’an. Through its nursery programme (KG1–KG3), children as young as three begin building strong foundations in English, Mathematics, Arabic and Science.

In the past 5 years, more than 100 students have memorised the Holy Qur’an, progressing to higher education and employment, while hundreds of young children have gained essential knowledge and language skills.

Years of wear have left parts of the mosque, school and student residence unsafe for the children who learn and live there. Critical renovations are required, including new roofing, wall reconstruction and replastering, floor levelling and tiling, improved sanitation systems, and new beds and mattresses.

The total cost of restoring this vital centre is £50,000.
